  • Why You Need to Transition Your Skincare Routine For Spring

    March 02, 2020 2 min read

As we move from winter to spring, we notice that many articles we read online discusshow to transition our routine between the seasons but neverwhy we should be switching our skincare routine with each season. Today we’re breaking down how the shift in seasons affects our skin, and why you need to update your routine to keep your skin healthy all year long.

How do the changing seasons impact our skin?

Seasonal changes mean fluctuating temperatures, humidity, wind and sun exposure, and your skin needs to find a way to respond and adapt to all of these changing environmental forces. Have you noticed that your skin tends to become dryer in the cooler months and oiler in the warmer months? This is because the change in temperature and humidity disrupts your skin’s balance and causes the skin barrier to change.

Nicer weather means more time outside

For a lot of us, wintertime means more time indoors shielding our skin from the elements, but in the spring we find ourselves enjoying the extra hour of sunlight and spending more time outdoors. This additional time outside increases our exposure to harmful UV rays. While we advocate for wearing SPF all year round, it’s even more important to layer on your favorite SPF moisturizer in the spring to protect your skin from premature aging and developing skin cancers. While your face may be the obvious place you need to be piling on the sun protection, don’t forget that the delicate skin on your lips needs protection too! By reducing sun damage, you can prevent dry lips, as well as moreserious concerns

    Warmer temperatures means increased sweating

Whether you’re laying out in the sun (always use SPF!) or enjoying the weather with an outdoor workout, our skin will sweat more during this warmer season. Sweat that has been sitting on your skin for a prolonged period of time can clog pores and cause breakouts and irritation. Be sure to always wash your skin after a workout or sweat sesh to help maintain it’s healthy glow! You can also use products like our Clarifying Toner, which contains Witch Hazel and Salicylic Acid to help fight post perspiration breakouts.

Now that we have the low down, make sure to beat the heat with important spring must-haves like our Daily Moisture SPF 30 Concentrate to keep your skin sun-safe, Cell Renewing Microfoliant to clear away skin dead cells and remove build up in your pores, the Cellular Rejuvenating Concentrate to keep your skin hydrated and our Clarifying Toner to keep you cool, calm and breakout free!
