Three Changes To Make Your Beauty Routine More Eco-Friendly
We should all be doing what we can to help save our planet with a commitment to sustainability, but sometimes it can be difficult to know where to begin. We have rounded up three easy, positive changes you can make to your everyday beauty routine to get you on your way!
Don’t Leave The Water Running
One of the easiest ways to make your beauty routine more eco-friendly is by turning off your tap. Only 1 percent of the world’s water is available for human consumption, and our excessive use of this water is taking a toll on the planet - leaving lakes and rivers struggling to meet the growing demand. In fact, shockingly, we use just under a gallon of water each time to wash our face!
We recommend splashing your face with water, turning the tap off, and then applying your cleanser with damp fingers or a damp device before turning the faucet back on briefly to rinse.
Keep An Eye Out For Microplastics And Microbeads
Microplastics and microbeads are tiny pieces of plastic (roughly the size of a sesame seed) which can be commonly found in exfoliants and are a known source of water pollution and may be ingested by marine animals. Not only are they bad for the environment, but also for us as the exposure to plastics and additives may lead to a variety of health complications such as hormone-related cancers.
